Scott Helsing Named New AUVSI President

Scott Helsing, AVID LLC Aerospace Engineer, made inaugural President of Blue Ridge Chapter of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International

Blacksburg, Virginia, June 14, 2007 - Scott Helsing was recently selected to serve as President of the newly formed AUVSI chapter. He graduated with a degree in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1996. With over ten years experience working in the aerospace field, Scott has held positions as a satellite test director and software developer, prior to joining AVID LLC as an engineer in 2005.

“Unmanned systems is an emerging, heterogeneous field,” said Scott Helsing. “I am pleased to be the first president for the Blue Ridge Chapter, and look forward to laying a foundation for future networking among the local universities and businesses in the surrounding area.”

Software design tools include AVID OAV for modeling and simulation of ducted fan vehicles, AVID ACS for modeling and simulation of fixed wing vehicles, AVID PAGE for rapid geometry definition, and AVID SPOT for evaluating sensor and aircraft performance.
